چکیده

We consider a scheduling problem in which n independent and simultaneously available jobs are to be processed on m parallel machines. The jobs are delivered in batches and the delivery date of a batch is equal to the completion time of the last job in the batch. The delivery cost depends on the number of deliveries. The objective is to minimize the sum of the total #ow time and delivery cost. We "rst show that the problem is NP-complete in the ordinary sense even when m"2, and NP-complete in the strong sense when m is arbitrary. Then we develop a dynamic programming algorithm to solve the problem. The algorithm is pseudopolynomial when m is constant and the number of batches has a "xed upper bound. Finally, we identify two polynomially solvable cases by introducing their corresponding solution methods. ( 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

Design of a Hybrid Genetic Algorithm for Parallel Machines Scheduling to Minimize Job Tardiness and Machine Deteriorating Costs with Deteriorating Jobs in a Batched Delivery System

This paper studies the parallel machine scheduling problem subject to machine and job deterioration in a batched delivery system. By the machine deterioration effect, we mean that each machine deteriorates over time, at a different rate. Moreover, job processing times are increasing functions of their starting times and follow a simple linear deterioration. The objective functions are minimizin...

Artificial Immune System for Single Machine Scheduling and Batching Problem in Supply Chain

This paper addresses a production and outbound distribution scheduling problem in which a set of jobs have to be process on a single machine for delivery to customers or to other machines for further processing. We assume that there is a sufficient number of vehicles and the delivery costs is independent of batch size but it is dependent on each trip. In this paper, we present an Artificial Imm...

Particle swarm optimization for minimizing total earliness/tardiness costs of two-stage assembly flowshop scheduling problem in a batched delivery system

This paper considers a two-stage assembly flow shop scheduling problem. When all parts of each product are completed in the first stage, they are assembled into a final product on an assembly machine in the second stage. In order to reduce the delivery cost, completed products can be held until completion of some other products to be delivered in a same batch. The proposed problem addresses sch...

A bi-objective model for a scheduling problem of unrelated parallel batch processing machines with fuzzy parameters by two fuzzy multi-objective meta-heuristics

This paper considers a bi-objective model for a scheduling problem of unrelated parallel batch processing machines to minimize the makespan and maximum tardiness, simultaneously. Each job has a specific size and the data corresponding to its ready time, due date and processing time-dependent machine are uncertain and determined by trapezoidal fuzzy numbers. Each machine has a specific capacity,...

A branch and bound algorithm to minimize the total weighted number of tardy jobs and delivery costs with late deliveries for a supply chain scheduling problem

In this paper, we study a supply chain scheduling problem that simultaneously considers production scheduling and product delivery.  jobs have to be scheduled on a single machine and delivered to  customers for further processing in batches. The objective is to minimize the sum of the total weighted number of tardy jobs and the delivery costs. In this paper, we present a heuristic algorithm (HA...

New Formulation and Solution in PCB Assembly Systems with Parallel Batch processors

This paper considers the scheduling problem of parallel batch processing machines with non-identical job size and processing time. In this paper, a new mathematical model with ready time and batch size constraints is presented to formulate the problem mathematically, in which simultaneous reduction of the makespan and earliness-tardiness is the objective function. In recent years, the nature-in...
